Tele-conference Tonight

May 12, 2009

The leadership team of “40 Days for Life” is making a big announcement tonight.
You might want to join the teleconference if possible:

Through God’s inspiration,
40 Days for Life is about to
hope and commitment!

Reserve your spot now on the live webcast and teleconference on Tuesday, May 12 (9 pm Eastern / 8 pm Central / 7 pm Mountain / 6 pm Pacific) that will reveal for the very first time the brand-new initiatives that will be launched this summer — and beyond — to expand the impact of this movement.

At the conclusion of this spring’s 40 Days for Life campaign, 4,554 people filled out detailed surveys providing clear insights on where this effort needs to go from here.

After weeks of praying, reviewing the surveys, and mapping out focused strategic plans to build on this momentum, the national 40 Days for Life team is finally prepared to announce the next steps for this nationwide effort.

Discover how the impact of this work,
through God’s grace and guidance,
is about to be taken THE NEXT LEVEL

To be the first to learn the exciting plans for the rest of 2009 — and to learn how YOU can make a life-saving impact — you are invited to attend 40 Days for Life’s THE NEXT LEVEL teleconference and webcast that will announce the major new initiatives.

During this pro-life event, you will hear from members of the 40 Days for Life national team and leaders of several of the local 40 Days for Life campaigns who will share how God has worked miracles in their communities – and how the life-saving momentum has continued to build AFTER their campaigns ended.

With the BIG plans that will be revealed during this event, the rest of this year could be the most exciting time the pro-life movement has yet seen…

…but we will also be totally transparent about the daunting challenges that must be faced if this effort is to realize its full potential, and how YOU can make a lifesaving impact over the coming months.

An opportunity to help save lives by making a financial investment into this work will be provided.

The above information is on the Reservations page at

The following additional information is from an email received today.
The writer/sender is David Bereit, National Director, 40 Days for Life:

It’s a crazy Tuesday afternoon and I only have a moment, but I’m excited to announce a last-minute surprise guest who will be speaking on tonight’s live “THE NEXT LEVEL” teleconference and web simulcast…

He’s a man who:

* Has been a U.S. Congressman for 29 years

* Leads the bi-partisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus

* Is a genuine and humble public servant

* Recently made news by confronting Hillary Clinton over her international abortion expansion plans

* Has family members who have actively participated in 40 Days for Life

My wife, Margaret, and I had the opportunity to visit with this congressional leader and his wife at a breakfast in Washington, D.C. last Friday, and what he said about the critical importance of 40 Days for Life in the midst of the current political and legislative climate was both humbling and inspiring.

He realizes that ending abortion is more dependent on what you are actively doing in your local community than anything happening in our nation’s capital.

His office just called to let me know that he can join our call tonight — to share the latest BREAKING NEWS and to offer encouragement — right after leaving the House floor from a series of votes.

I can’t wait to introduce him to you!

Tonight’s 40 Days for Life “THE NEXT LEVEL” tele-conference and web simulcast — announcing the big plans for this summer and beyond — already has well over 1,000 people registered to attend.

And this news will probably drive those numbers up dramatically.

The call begins at 9 PM Eastern (8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific.) If you’ve already registered, make sure you dial-in about 10 minutes early to be sure to get a spot…

…But if you have *not* yet registered, then this is your FINAL chance at:

It will be an exciting and hope-filled call!

My guess is that the guest will be Congressman Chris Smith, a very strong advocate for life. Even if it turns out that he is not the guest, you might be interested in learning about him at I’ve seen him several times on EWTN and he is someone to admire for his efforts to defend life. Here’s an excerpt of a description of a bill he sponsored and that is now a law:

PUBLIC LAW 109-129 — December 20, 2005

Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005

Prime Sponsor: Mr. Christopher H. Smith (NJ)

H.R. 2520 – Signed by the President on December 20, 2005

This ground breaking legislation will transform medical treatment by making genetically matched cord blood stem cells available to patients who need them. Cord blood stem cells are already treating patients, and this legislation will provide new opportunities for patients to access cures. It is critical that this resource be made widely available because of the rapidly growing number of devastating diseases which could be addressed through cord blood stem cell research and treatments.

Umbilical cords are a rich, non-controversial source of stem cells, but currently hospitals throw millions of them away each year. These stem cells can be matched to patients and have already been used to treat thousands of patients of more than 70 diseases and conditions, including Leukemia, Sickle Cell Anemia and Hurler disease. In addition, published studies have shown that cord blood stem cells have the capacity to change into other cell types, which give them the potential to treat many fatal, terminal and debilitating conditions, including spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s, diabetes and heart disease.
